As part of the preparations for Sustainability Week 2025, the Sustainability Ambassadors at AL_mustaqbal University – College of Science – Department of Medical Physics organized an awareness campaign titled:<br />“A Case Study on Social Anxiety Among University Students”<br />The campaign was supervised by Ms. Afrah Hussein Jihad and featured the participation of student Abbas Dayekh Ghazi, held at the Medical Physics Department booth in the Sustainability Projects Building.<br /><br />This initiative aimed to support the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):<br /><br />Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being – by highlighting the importance of mental health as part of overall wellness and offering scientific strategies for coping with social anxiety.<br /><br />Goal 4: Quality Education – by fostering a healthier academic environment and addressing psychological factors that may impact student performance.<br /><br />Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities – by promoting an inclusive university environment, especially for students facing mental health challenges such as social anxiety.<br /><br />Campaign Highlights:<br /><br />Presentation of a real case involving a student with social anxiety, followed by a discussion with attendees about causes and academic impacts.<br /><br />Practical, expert-backed advice was shared on handling difficult or embarrassing situations, such as answering challenging questions in class.<br /><br />Students engaged directly with the case, creating a space for dialogue, empathy, and peer support.<br /><br />Distribution of informative brochures detailing the causes of social anxiety and coping strategies.<br /><br />The campaign was documented through photos to be shared on university platforms and social media, amplifying its awareness reach.<br /><br />Key Outcomes:<br /><br />Increased student awareness of the importance of mental health.<br /><br />Encouragement for students with similar issues to open up and seek support.<br /><br />Fostering a more supportive and understanding university environment.<br /><br />This initiative reflects AL_mustaqbal University’s ongoing efforts—as the top-ranked private university—to apply sustainability principles beyond environmental aspects, integrating psychological and educational well-being to graduate a generation that is mentally resilient and academically empowered.<br />"AL_mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq"<br/><br/><a href=https://uomus.edu.iq/Default.aspx target=_blank>al-mustaqbal University Website</a>
