Environmental Health: The Foundation of Healthy Living
Environmental health is one of the most important aspects of public health, as it is directly related to the factors surrounding humans that affect their quality of life, such as air, water, food, and soil. A healthy environment means a safe and healthy environment for humans to live in, and the opposite can cause many diseases and chronic health problems.
The most prominent environmental threats affecting human health include:
Air pollution from factories and vehicle exhaust, which causes respiratory diseases.
Water pollution, which leads to serious diseases such as cholera and typhoid.
Waste and its improper management create a fertile environment for germs and disease-carrying insects.
Climate change, which increases the risk of natural disasters and the spread of epidemics.
To protect environmental health, efforts must be made to:
Raise environmental awareness among community members.
Promote afforestation and green spaces.
Reducing the use of harmful chemicals.
Improving waste and water management systems. Environmental health is not just an individual responsibility, but a collective effort between individuals, governments, and organizations to preserve a healthy and safe planet for future generations
Al _ Mustaqbal University, the first university in Iraq
Prepared by: Shahad Nawras Abbas
