Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, announced that the university has officially obtained membership in the International Association of Universities (IAU)—a prestigious global organization affiliated with UNESCO and headquartered in Paris, France. The IAU is dedicated to promoting academic and research cooperation among higher education institutions worldwide.

This milestone reflects Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to academic excellence and global engagement, as well as its aspiration to expand its presence on the international stage. The membership opens new opportunities for the university to participate in international initiatives, exchange academic expertise, and contribute to the development of higher education policies globally.

Joining the IAU is a notable achievement that highlights the university’s growing international standing. It also confirms its dedication to maintaining high academic standards and fostering international collaboration for the benefit of its students and academic staff.

The IAU includes member institutions from over 120 countries, with only a limited number of Iraqi universities—mostly from the Kurdistan Region—holding membership. Therefore, Al-Mustaqbal University’s inclusion is a significant addition that enhances Iraq’s representation in global academic forums. The association focuses on supporting sustainable higher education and promoting shared values among its members.

This step aligns with Al-Mustaqbal University’s strategic vision to strengthen its global position and provide an educational environment that meets international standards, aiming to prepare a generation of leaders and innovators capable of making a positive impact on society.

Al-Mustaqbal University is the first University in Iraq.
