🧪 Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS): A Key to a Low-Carbon Future
Eng. Nourhan Thamer Assi.

🎯 Related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
✅ SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
✅ SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
✅SDG 13: Climate Action
CCUS is an advanced technology designed to reduce carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from industrial sources and power plants. The process involves three main stages:
Capture: CO₂ is collected before it enters the atmosphere.
Utilization: The captured CO₂ is repurposed in industrial processes, such as synthetic fuel or chemical production.
Storage: CO₂ is stored deep underground in geological formations such as depleted oil and gas fields.
CCUS is a strategic tool that enables continued industrial activity while minimizing environmental impact. It also allows for innovative use of emissions, rather than simply discarding them, promoting circular carbon solutions.

Al-Mustaqbal University The First University in Iraq
