Nourhan Thamer Assi<br /><br />🌱 Related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):<br />Goal 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy<br />Goal 13 – Climate Action<br />Goal 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure<br />Between 2016 and 2022, the cost of electricity generated from utility-scale solar PV and onshore wind in selected EU countries dropped significantly due to advancements in technology, competitive auction mechanisms, and continued policy support.<br />Based on quarterly averages:<br />Auction contract prices for both sources declined to levels close to or even below wholesale electricity prices.<br />Solar PV experienced a steady and sharp drop in costs, especially in high-irradiation countries like Spain and Italy.<br />Onshore wind prices saw a gradual decline with relative price stability in countries like Germany, Denmark, and France.<br />This trend confirms that renewables are no longer just environmentally friendly, but also economically competitive, driving Europe faster toward a low-carbon future.<br />"Al-Mustaqbal University – The No. 1 Private University in Iraq"<br /><br />
