How Does Recycling Change Our Consumption Habits?
Eng. Nourhan Thamer Assi

Recycling is closely linked to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, as recycling supports waste reduction and sustainable resource use.
Goal 13: Climate Action, by lowering greenhouse gas emissions associated with producing new materials.
Goal 15: Life on Land, by conserving natural resources and reducing environmental pollution.
Recycling is one of the most crucial tools contributing to resource sustainability and reducing the environmental impact caused by excessive waste consumption. Recycling leads to a significant transformation in consumption habits among individuals and communities by increasing environmental awareness and encouraging the prudent use of resources.
Recycling motivates consumers to adopt more sustainable behaviors, such as waste reduction, product reuse, and choosing recyclable products. It also promotes the concept of a circular economy, aiming to minimize waste by reintegrating materials into production cycles instead of disposing of them.
In conclusion, adopting recycling practices positively changes consumption habits, supports sustainable development, and enhances environmental protection for future generations.

"Al-Mustaqbal University – The No. 1 Private University in Iraq"
