On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the UK-based Times Higher Education (THE) announced the results of the Impact Rankings 2025, one of the most prestigious global rankings in higher education. This ranking evaluates universities’ performance in achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<br /><br />Al-Mustaqbal University has made a historic achievement by securing first place among all Iraqi public and private universities. This positions the university at the forefront of national higher education institutions committed to a comprehensive sustainable development vision, and strengthens its academic and research standing both regionally and internationally.<br /><br />On the Global Scale:<br /><br />Al-Mustaqbal University ranked in the 201–300 category globally out of 2,526 universities from 130 countries across all continents — a record number that reflects the high level of competition in this prestigious ranking.<br /><br />The university demonstrated exceptional performance in several UN goals, most notably:<br /> • Ranked 1st worldwide in Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), surpassing renowned universities from Europe, America, and Asia.<br />This confirms the capacity of Iraqi universities to make meaningful and impactful contributions to major global issues such as environmental sustainability and renewable energy.<br /><br /><br />The University also achieved advanced positions in other SDGs:<br /> • Goal 1 – No Poverty:<br />1st in Iraq, ranked 101–200 globally<br /> • Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being:<br />2nd in Iraq, ranked 101–200 globally<br /> • Goal 4 – Quality Education:<br />1st in Iraq, ranked 201–300 globally<br /> • Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation:<br />1st in Iraq, ranked 60th globally<br /> • Goal 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy:<br />1st in Iraq and 1st globally<br /> • Goal 13 – Climate Action:<br />1st in Iraq, ranked 201–300 globally<br /> • Goal 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions:<br />1st in Iraq, ranked 101–200 globally<br /><br />⸻<br /><br />This major academic and leadership achievement is the result of a clear strategic vision adopted by the university, positioning itself at the core of modern sustainable development transformations.
