Self-Regulating Chemical Reactors: A New Paradigm in Process Engineering
By: Eng. Abdullah Marza Hamza

Sustainable Development Goals:
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Self-regulating chemical reactors are an emerging technology designed to automatically maintain optimal reaction conditions without constant human intervention. These reactors use integrated sensors and control algorithms to adjust temperature, pressure, and reactant flow rates in real time.

This technology improves process safety by preventing conditions that could lead to runaway reactions or hazardous situations. It also enhances efficiency by minimizing energy consumption and maximizing product yield.

In industrial chemical manufacturing, self-regulating reactors reduce downtime and maintenance costs, while improving consistency and quality of products. They enable more flexible production systems capable of handling varying feedstock qualities and demand changes.

The development and adoption of these reactors align with sustainability goals by promoting responsible consumption of resources, reducing waste, and lowering environmental impacts.

Al-Mustaqbal University – The No. 1 Private University in Iraq
