Artificial Intelligence in Predicting Energy Equipment Failures
By: Eng. Abdullah Marza Hamza

Sustainable Development Goals:
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the energy sector by enabling predictive maintenance and failure forecasting of critical equipment. Using data from sensors embedded in turbines, generators, and other machinery, AI algorithms analyze patterns to predict faults before they occur.

This proactive approach minimizes unplanned downtime, reduces repair costs, and extends the lifespan of equipment. It also enhances the reliability and stability of power grids, particularly those integrating intermittent renewable sources.

By optimizing maintenance schedules and resource allocation, AI supports efficient energy production and distribution. This contributes to sustainable industrial practices, economic growth, and improved working conditions in energy facilities.

The adoption of AI-driven predictive systems is a key step toward smarter, more resilient energy infrastructures aligned with global sustainability objectives.

Al-Mustaqbal University – The No. 1 Private University in Iraq
