Environmental Impact Assessment of Biofuel Use

Author: Asst. The production and use of biofuels can affect land use, water resources, biodiversity, and greenhouse gas emissions. Lifecycle analysis evaluates these impacts from feedstock cultivation to fuel combustion. While biofuels reduce net carbon emissions compared to conventional fuels, concerns remain about deforestation, water consumption, and competition with food crops. Sustainable practices, including using non-food biomass and improving agricultural efficiency, are critical to minimizing negative environmental consequences and maximizing biofuel benefits.

Al-Mustaqbal University – The No. 1 Private University in Iraq
