As part of the academic plan and practical activities of the College of Nursing – Al-Mustaqbal University, fourth-year students organized a field visit to Al-Rashad Teaching Hospital for Mental Health in Baghdad, under the supervision of several faculty members. The visit aimed to enhance students’ skills in psychiatric and mental health nursing by providing exposure to the real working environment in mental health institutions and familiarizing them with professional and humane approaches to patient care, thereby reinforcing modern concepts of treatment and comprehensive care. The visit included a tour of the hospital’s various departments, during which students received detailed explanations from the medical and nursing staff about the nature of mental disorders, diagnostic and care procedures, and treatment plans—including both pharmacological and behavioral approaches—along with continuous monitoring of patients’ psychological conditions. This visit aligns with Al-Mustaqbal University’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education). Through such activities, the college aims to prepare nurses with professional and social awareness capable of supporting mental health in the community and promoting sustainability in healthcare and educational practices.
