Scientific Field Trip to the University of Information Technology and Communications in Baghdad

The Department of Intelligent Medical Systems at the College of Science – Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific field trip to the University of Information Technology and Communications in Baghdad on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, with the participation of a group of the department’s students. The trip was supervised by Dr. Maytham Nabeel Maqdad, the department’s rapporteur; Lecturer Ali Saleem Haleem, head of student activities; Lecturer Qusay Muneer Diab, head of quality assurance; Lecturer Najat Hameed Jasim; and Teaching Assistant Aya Jamal Haidi. The visiting delegation was warmly received by Dr. Intisar, Dean of the College of Bioinformatics, and Dr. Zainab Al-Qudsi, Head of the Department of Medical Systems. They welcomed the guests and presented an overview of the college and its most prominent scientific and research activities. The visit included a field tour of the department’s laboratories, such as the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Laboratory and the Biology Laboratory, where students were introduced to modern equipment and technologies used in smart medical applications. Students also participated in joint scientific lectures followed by interactive discussion sessions that addressed research and practical topics in the field of biomedical systems. At the conclusion of the visit, constructive scientific discussions were held between faculty members of the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems at Al-Mustaqbal University and their counterparts at the host university. The discussions emphasized the importance of academic cooperation and the exchange of expertise between the two universities to enhance students’ skills and improve the quality of higher education. This scientific visit aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly: • Goal 4: Quality Education – by providing an educational environment based on practical application and interactive learning. • Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – through exposure to modern technologies and advanced laboratories in the field of intelligent medical systems. • Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals – by strengthening academic and research collaboration between universities.
