Under the patronage of the President of Future University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Science, Assistant Prof. Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems organized an awareness campaign on the occasion of World Plant-Based Diet Day, implemented by Teaching Assistant Aheeb Hashim. The campaign aimed to raise students’ awareness about the health benefits of a plant-based diet and its role in promoting overall health and environmental sustainability. The campaign included the display of educational posters and materials highlighting the benefits and types of plant-based diets, as well as key plant-based foods rich in essential nutrients such as proteins, vitamins, and minerals. Interactive discussion sessions were also held to clarify the differences between a fully plant-based diet and a flexible plant-based approach. Teaching Assistant Aheeb Hashim explained that a plant-based diet is a healthy nutritional system that helps prevent chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension, while also supporting environmental sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint associated with animal production. The campaign also emphasized the importance of reducing red meat consumption due to its link to elevated cholesterol, heart disease, and certain types of cancer. Participants were encouraged to adopt a balanced lifestyle combining healthy eating and physical activity. This initiative is part of the Department of Intelligent Medical Systems’ ongoing awareness activities aimed at promoting health and environmental consciousness among students, in line with Future University’s mission to support sustainable health practices and proper nutrition for the benefit of individuals and society.
