On October 18, 2025, Assist. Lecturer Shahad Mahmoud Mohammed participated in the 3rd International Conference on the Future of Sustainable Energy by presenting a scientific poster titled “The Effect of Temperature on Mass Transfer During the Production of Sustainable Biodiesel from Castor Oil.”
The study investigates the effect of temperature on mass-transfer efficiency during the production of sustainable biodiesel from castor oil, which is considered a renewable and environmentally friendly plant-based source. The research focuses on improving the performance of the transesterification process by understanding the role of mass transfer between the two phases (oil and methanol), with the aim of enhancing production efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
The results confirm that optimizing operating conditions—particularly temperature—significantly improves the reaction rate and increases biodiesel yield, making this technique a practical option within the framework of clean energy and green technologies. The study also supports sustainable development goals by reducing environmental impact, promoting industrial innovation, and contributing to energy security through alternative and renewable sources.
