The Department of Life Sciences held a scientific workshop entitled: ((Chemistry behind drugs and its effect on the brain)) It was presented by the teaching in the Department of Life Sciences (M. M. Dhaha Salah Sahib ()) with the participation of a group of college students and its scientific staff. The workshop dealt with the chemical structure of narcotic substances and the mechanism of their effect on the central nervous system, in addition to explaining the repercussions of their abuse on human behavior and cognitive abilities, with reference to the most dangerous widespread substances and how to avoid their negative effects. She also highlighted the health and social damage resulting from drug use, stressing the need to enhance awareness within the university community and urge students to contribute to spreading the culture of prevention. The workshop concluded with a discussion session between the lecture and the participants to answer the questions raised, while stressing the importance of adopting continuous awareness programs that contribute to protecting young people from this serious scourge. This event is part of a series of scientific activities held by the Department of Life Sciences in support of the university's vision of promoting health awareness and positive behavior among students.
