Forensic Evidence Department Launches Awareness Campaign on Drug Prevention in Support of the Sustainable Development Goals

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Furat Hamza Al-Sultani, Dean of the College of Science, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Sami Abdul Hussein, Head of the Forensic Evidence Department, the Forensic Evidence Department at the College of Science organized an awareness campaign titled “Drug Prevention… A Shared Responsibility”, aimed at educating students on the dangers of drug abuse, encouraging them to avoid such harmful behaviors, and motivating them to support and advise their peers. The campaign included the distribution of educational brochures, direct discussions with students, and presentations highlighting the psychological, social, and health impacts of drugs. It also emphasized the role of university students in promoting a culture of prevention and contributing to community efforts to combat drug-related risks. This initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by strengthening health awareness and reducing risky behaviors. Goal 4: Quality Education, through enhancing students’ knowledge, awareness, and responsible decision-making. Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by promoting responsible conduct and combating harmful practices within the community. At the conclusion of the campaign, organizers highlighted the importance of expanding such initiatives, which contribute to raising community awareness and reflect the university’s mission to protect students and foster a healthy, safe academic environment.
