On the occasion of the Iraqi Anti-Drug Week, the College of Nursing at Al-Mustaqbal University organized a comprehensive awareness campaign across the university campus aimed at enhancing students’ health awareness regarding the dangers of drug abuse and methods of prevention. The campaign was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ismail Mohammed Kazem, with wide participation from the Sustainability Ambassadors of the College of Nursing. The campaign included the distribution of awareness brochures and informative designs highlighting the physical, psychological, and health risks associated with drug abuse, as well as clarifying early indicators of substance use and how to address them promptly. The campaign also featured mobile educational stations throughout the university to raise awareness about this phenomenon that particularly targets young people. The Sustainability Ambassadors engaged directly with students, explaining early prevention strategies, the importance of promoting mental health, and encouraging positive behaviors that keep students away from risk factors associated with drug use. The campaign also emphasized the university’s role in spreading health awareness and the need for cooperation among all educational institutions to help protect society. Dr. Ismail Mohammed Kazem praised the efforts of the participating students, affirming that such campaigns are among the most important awareness activities that contribute to building an informed community capable of confronting the challenges of addiction. He also called for maintaining these activities regularly to enhance awareness and reinforce a culture of prevention among students. The campaign concluded with recommendations calling for the integration of anti-drug awareness within the college’s annual programs and expanding student participation to achieve greater impact in serving the community and advancing sustainability goals.
