Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, and as part of the College of Law’s activities in the field of human rights, the College organized a panel discussion entitled “The Culture of Human Rights and the Promotion of Social Peace: The Role of Universities in Spreading It”, on Sunday, 23/11/2025, at the College Hall – Humanities Building.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Ali Jasim Al-Saadi, a faculty member in the College of Law, who discussed human rights as a fundamental ethical and value-based system, highlighting the role of universities in spreading awareness of these rights and reinforcing them among students and the broader community. He also reviewed the relationship between respecting human rights and promoting social peace, as well as the importance of the academic role in building an educational environment grounded in respect for human dignity and the rejection of discrimination and violence.
The speaker further pointed to the necessity of integrating efforts among educational, cultural, and legal institutions to develop effective awareness and educational programs that contribute to enhancing social peace and entrenching a culture of human rights. He also emphasized the importance of developing educational policies that reinforce the values of justice, equality, and openness, contributing to community protection and the achievement of intellectual and social stability.
