Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, and as part of the College of Law’s activities in awareness and combating drug abuse, the College organized a panel discussion entitled “Legal Liability for Drug Use and Promotion in Iraqi Legislation”, on Tuesday, 25/11/2024, at the College Hall – Humanities Building. The lecture was delivered by Asst. Lecturer Muna Mohammed Kazem, a faculty member in the College of Law, who discussed the legal provisions related to the crime of drug use and promotion in Iraqi legislation, explaining the legal consequences of these acts according to the applicable penal laws. She also reviewed the role of legislation in limiting the spread of this phenomenon and the importance of legal awareness in enhancing community safety and protecting individuals from the dangers of drugs. The speaker also highlighted the need for integrated efforts among educational, health, and legal institutions in order to develop effective awareness programs that contribute to preventing drug use and promotion, emphasizing the importance of developing legal and educational policies that strengthen community awareness and help protect young people from falling into this harmful practice.
