The Anesthesia Technology Department held a scientific workshop titled “Drugs and Their Impact on Anesthesia Staff in Operating Rooms and Intensive Care Units”, presented by Dr. Mohammed Abdulzahra, with the attendance of faculty members, healthcare professionals, and students.
The workshop addressed the physical and psychological effects of substance misuse on anesthesia personnel, as well as the occupational risks resulting from indirect exposure to certain anesthetic vapors inside operating rooms. Dr. Abdulzahra also emphasized the importance of adopting preventive protocols within healthcare institutions and promoting a culture of risk awareness to ensure a safe working environment.
This workshop aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), which stresses the need to reduce substance abuse and protect healthcare workers, contributing to improved quality of patient care.
The workshop is part of a series of scientific activities through which the Anesthesia Technology Department aims to develop the skills of its staff and students and reinforce principles of occupational safety in critical healthcare environments.
