Based on the directives of the Dean of the College of Science at Al-Mustaqbal University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Furat Hamza, and in coordination with the University Presidency, the activities of the First International Conference on Advanced Sciences and Their Applications 2025 commenced today. The conference was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and supervised by the University President, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi.
The event witnessed the presence of the University President, senior academic staff, college deans, and researchers from various Iraqi universities, in addition to a distinguished group of international professors and experts representing Iran, Libya, Kuwait, Georgia, Jordan, and the Sultanate of Oman.
The opening session began with a speech delivered on behalf of the University Presidency by Prof. Dr. Muzafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision. He welcomed the guests and emphasized that the conference is being held at a time of rapid advancement in science and technology, which increases the responsibility of academic institutions in supporting scientific research and developing innovative solutions that serve society and sustainable development.
He also highlighted the significant research progress achieved recently by Al-Mustaqbal University, reflected in its distinguished results in the Times ISR Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, the QS Sustainability Rankings, and the Iraqi National University Rankings, in addition to the publication of nearly 6,000 research papers in Scopus and Clarivate databases.
The Dean of the College of Science, Asst. Prof. Dr. Furat Hamza, delivered a speech outlining the objectives of the conference and its role in enhancing knowledge integration across scientific disciplines. This was followed by a speech from the Scientific Committee, which presented the conference’s main themes and research directions.
The session also included a keynote scientific presentation delivered by researchers from Razi University in Iran, showcasing the latest developments in advanced sciences and their modern applications.
At the conclusion of the opening session, the University President presented conference shields to international guests and participating researchers from outside Iraq, in appreciation of their valuable scientific contributions.
Spanning two days, the conference features 64 scientific papers across various fields, including physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, geology, environmental sciences, life sciences, and biotechnology—reflecting Al-Mustaqbal University’s vision to promote interdisciplinary research and build an interactive scientific platform that advances innovation.
The conference continues its scientific and discussion sessions over two days with the aim of formulating high-impact recommendations that strengthen academic collaboration and support national initiatives in sustainable development.
