with the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hasan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqbal University, and with the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Forat Hamza Al-Sultani, Dean of the College of Science, and the respected Head of the Department of Life Sciences, the Department of Life Sciences in the College of Science – Al-Mustaqbal University organized an awareness campaign within the university premises titled: "Combating Violence Against Women" The campaign was carried out by: Asst. Lecturer Zainab Nazem Aziz, Asst. Lecturer Duha Sahib Salah, Asst. Lecturer Zahraa Jawad Kadhim, and Ala Adel Rasmi, with the participation of a group of department students. Campaign Objectives The campaign aimed to: Raise community awareness about the dangers of violence against women in all its forms. Promote a culture of respect for women’s rights and empower them to learn about their rights and the available legal protection mechanisms. Encourage society to reject violence and report incidents, while building a safe and supportive environment that respects women’s dignity and ensures a life free from discrimination and abuse. Strengthen the role of families and society in preventing violence and promote a culture of reporting and speaking out. Support institutional and legal efforts to protect women and enhance their active participation in society. Moreover, this campaign aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: Goal 5: Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being Goal 16: Peaceful, Just, and Inclusive Societies Thus, the campaign contributes to achieving sustainable development by raising societal awareness, empowering women and girls, and promoting an environment that respects rights, justice, and equality. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq.
