Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, and as part of the College of Law’s activities in combating intellectual extremism, the College organized a dialogue seminar entitled “Intellectual Extremism: Causes, Impacts, and Solutions”, held on Saturday, 29/11/2025, in the College Hall – Humanities Building.
The seminar was delivered by Dr. Ali Nimrod Hamzah, a faculty member at the College of Law, who discussed the causes leading to intellectual extremism and its resulting impacts, in addition to the legal and intellectual approaches to addressing it within educational institutions. He also highlighted the role universities can play in promoting academic awareness, reinforcing the principles of moderation and coexistence, and fostering a culture of dialogue and rejection of violence.
The seminar additionally reviewed the most significant Iraqi legislation related to combating intellectual extremism and the mechanisms for implementing it within educational institutions, as well as the key challenges faced by universities in addressing this phenomenon.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the lecturer emphasized the importance of enhancing students’ legal culture and adopting constructive discourse that contributes to protecting society and strengthening intellectual security.
