The Media Department in the College of Arts organized a scientific seminar titled “The Causes of the Decline in Education in Iraq and Ways to Address It”, with the attendance of several faculty members and students from different academic stages, held this morning in Hall 301.
The seminar was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hamza Abees Abd Al-Sada, and moderated by Dr. Qasim Mahdi Hamza, Lecturer Abdul-Kadhim Mohammed Aswid, and Asst. Lecturer Sabah Abbas Khalaf.
The seminar discussed the major challenges facing the education sector in Iraq, including the weak infrastructure of educational institutions, the shortage of qualified staff, the decline in curriculum quality, as well as the impact of economic and political conditions on the educational process.
During the seminar, the speakers emphasized the importance of activating the role of the media in shedding light on this issue, and the need to adopt awareness campaigns that raise public understanding of the importance of education, in addition to calling for fundamental reforms in educational policies.
The seminar witnessed wide interaction from students, who raised questions and participated with comments regarding ways to develop curricula, improve the educational environment, and strengthen the role of media in supporting the educational process.
At the conclusion of the seminar, participants recommended the necessity of cooperation between educational and media institutions to establish a comprehensive national strategy to elevate the reality of education in Iraq, stressing that investing in education is the foundation for building a better future.
