Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hasan Shakir Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Law, Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini, and as part of the College of Law’s activities in promoting sustainable development, the College organized a panel discussion titled: “The Legal Confrontation of the Crime of Bullying Against Persons with Disabilities”, held on Monday, 1/12/2025, in the college hall – Humanities Building.
The seminar was delivered by Dr. Abdulrahman Abbas Adain, a faculty member at the College of Law, who addressed the legal framework for confronting the crime of bullying against persons with disabilities, highlighting the psychological and social impacts this crime leaves on victims, in addition to the role of Iraqi and international legislation in protecting the rights of this group and enhancing their integration into society.
He also discussed the key challenges faced by educational and community institutions in limiting bullying practices, the importance of promoting a culture of respect and acceptance, and activating legal and community initiatives that support persons with disabilities. The seminar further included a review of the most important mechanisms that contribute to enforcing existing laws and strengthening community peace and legal protection for vulnerable groups.
At the end of the seminar, the lecturer emphasized the need to adopt effective awareness programs to promote human values and support efforts aimed at protecting the rights of persons with disabilities, in a way that contributes to enhancing sustainable development and reinforcing community security.
