The Department of Biology – College of Science at Al-Mustaqbal University organized an extensive awareness campaign on renewable energy and the future of clean energy sources, under the supervision of the faculty members:
Asst. Lecturer Banin Maan Kareem
Asst. Lecturer Zainab Nazem Aziz
Asst. Lecturer Doha Salah Sahib
This campaign was initiated by the department and its teaching staff with the aim of promoting environmental awareness among university students and introducing them to the main types of renewable energy, such as solar power, wind energy, geothermal energy, and bioenergy. The campaign emphasized the role of these energy sources in reducing carbon emissions, preserving the environment, and supporting the global movement toward sustainability.
The campaign also provided a simplified explanation of the future of renewable energy, both globally and within Iraq, highlighting the wide opportunities offered by clean energy technologies in fields such as industry, electricity production, and environmental protection. These opportunities contribute significantly to energy security and reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
The supervising instructors distributed awareness brochures throughout the university corridors. These brochures included concise scientific information and illustrative graphics about the types of renewable energy, their environmental and economic benefits, as well as recommendations encouraging students to adopt eco-friendly practices within the campus and in their daily lives.
This campaign reflects the commitment of the Department of Biology to strengthening scientific culture among students and encouraging initiatives that support global trends toward clean energy and sustainability—aligned with the university’s vision of fostering environmental awareness and promoting scientific thinking.
Al-Mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq.
