The topic of domestic violence crimes in Iraqi law addresses the most significant legal and social issues related to violence occurring within the family environment, which is considered one of the most dangerous phenomena threatening family structure and stability. The lecture highlights the concept of domestic violence and its various forms, such as physical, psychological, sexual violence, and neglect, in addition to explaining the legal provisions included in Iraqi legislation that address these acts and criminalize their perpetrators. The lecture also discusses the challenges facing the enforcement of the law, including the difficulty of reporting such crimes, and social customs that may prevent victims from claiming their rights. It further emphasizes the need to enhance legal and social protection mechanisms and support services for victims, particularly women and children, as they are the most vulnerable to such crimes. Moreover, the lecture stresses the importance of raising legal awareness within the community and strengthening the role of relevant authorities in reducing domestic violence through the enactment of deterrent laws and the provision of shelters and counseling services.
