The Department of biology at the College of Science – Al-Mustaqbal University organized a scientific workshop entitled “How to Begin Your Scientific Career with Confidence and Effectiveness,” presented by Asst. Lecturer Dohaa Salah Sahib on Sunday, 7/12/2025, with the participation of a group of students interested in developing their research and academic skills. The workshop covered several key topics focused on proper planning for an academic career, methods for enhancing self-confidence when entering the research field, approaches to selecting research topics, developing scientific writing skills, time management, and building an academic résumé. The lecturer also addressed fundamental principles of effective scientific communication, as well as mechanisms for participating in conferences, seminars, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. The workshop aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: Goal 4: Quality Education, by supporting students’ scientific capacity-building and developing their research skills. Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, through encouraging students to adopt scientific research as a pathway for innovation and community development. Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals, by promoting scientific networking and expanding students’ academic connections. At the conclusion of the workshop, students expressed their appreciation for the valuable insights and practical guidance provided, which helped clarify the features of the scientific career path and strengthened their confidence in their abilities. The department also extended its gratitude to the lecturer for her outstanding efforts in delivering and successfully conducting the workshop. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq.
