However, security and legal authorities face major challenges related to evidence tampering, data loss, and difficulties in verifying sources. Here, blockchain emerges as an innovative solution that provides an immutable digital record capable of documenting evidence in a secure and transparent manner. Understanding Blockchain Technology Blockchain is a distributed, tamper-proof database composed of interconnected blocks linked through complex cryptographic mechanisms. This technology records digital transactions in a decentralized manner, making it impossible to alter any record without the consensus of all parties within the network. Key Blockchain Features Relevant to Forensic Evidence Immutability: Once added to the chain, data cannot be deleted or modified. Transparency: Authorized entities can track changes and trace the source of evidence. Decentralization: No single entity has full control over the data, reducing opportunities for manipulation. Security & Encryption: Advanced cryptographic algorithms are used to safeguard information. Applications of Blockchain in Preserving Forensic Evidence 1. Documentation of Digital Evidence Cybercrimes such as digital fraud, data breaches, and manipulation require reliable methods for documenting electronic evidence.
