It allows individuals to engage with distant worlds without leaving their home, office, or workplace. Metaverse technology represents a major investment in virtual and augmented reality technologies, elevating them to a more advanced level. The metaverse can be characterized as follows: 1. A shared, collective virtual space among groups of people. 2. It relies on the internet and social media platforms. 3. It refers to a three-dimensional model of the internet. 4. It requires the use of virtual reality headsets. Media Uses of the Metaverse The metaverse encompasses a range of digital experiences, including augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and artificial intelligence (AI). These technologies are essential for improving media performance, as they provide new ways of storytelling and audience engagement—often referred to as immersive or experiential journalism. This technology offers a strong sense of presence, making the user feel as if they are truly present with another person in a different location. Users can communicate, interact, and adopt certain behaviors through avatars. An avatar is a virtual character chosen by the user, reflecting their orientations, ideas, beliefs, and preferred appearance in the virtual world.
