The College of Law at Al-Mustaqbal University organized, on Saturday الموافق 13/12/2025, the Fifth Legal Forum on Human Rights, held under the slogan:
“Human Rights: A Pillar for Building a Secure Society and Strong Institutions.”
The forum was held under the patronage of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shakir Majdi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini.
The forum aimed to discuss ways to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). The sessions were opened with a speech by the Dean of the College, followed by presentations addressing the main themes, including: the role of security agencies in protecting human rights, the stance of international and national legislation, and the importance of the role of universities and professional associations in consolidating this culture.
The forum witnessed active participation by specialized figures. Legal Brigadier Adel Al-Husseini, Director of Media at the Babylon Police Command, delivered a valuable lecture on the role of security agencies in safeguarding human rights. Nabil Abdul Amir Al-Kinani, Head of the Babylon Election Commission, presented an important intervention on the role of the Bar Association, while Mr. Ahmed Al-Attar, Director of the Human Rights Office in Babylon, spoke about the reality of human rights in the governorate. The events were also distinguished by a book signing ceremony for the book Human Rights by Professor Dr. Ammar Abbas Al-Husseini.
At the conclusion of the forum, emphasis was placed on the necessity of supporting legal and human rights awareness within society. All speakers and participating entities were honored with certificates and plaques, affirming the university’s pioneering role in serving society and national causes.
