The Department of Biology Organizes a Scientific Workshop on Water Resources and Climate Change

The Department of Biology organized a scientific workshop entitled “Water Resources and Climate Change”, delivered by Asst. Lecturer Doha Salah Sahib, in the presence of the Head of the Department of Biology, Prof. Dr. Ali Shaalan Mailef, along with a number of faculty members and students of the department. The workshop addressed the concept of climate change and its impact on water resources, highlighting its main causes, particularly the effects of rising temperatures and climate variability on the availability of surface and groundwater resources, water quality, and the occurrence of droughts and floods, as well as their implications for agricultural and environmental activities. The workshop also reviewed the major challenges facing water resources as a result of climate change, emphasizing the importance of adopting modern scientific approaches and sustainable strategies in water management, in order to preserve this vital resource and ensure its sustainability for future generations. This workshop is part of a series of scientific and awareness-raising activities organized by the Department of Biology, aiming to enhance environmental and water awareness among students and to link theoretical aspects with scientific applications, in line with the department’s scientific and educational mission in serving the community and the environment. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq.
