The Department of Biology organized a scientific workshop entitled “Environments and Culture Media”, delivered by Asst. Lecturer Jaafar Hamid Jaafar and Asst. Lecturer Zainab Nadhim Aziz. The workshop addressed the concept of environments and culture media and their importance in the growth of microorganisms, as well as their role in laboratory studies and scientific research. It also highlighted the different types of culture media and their various applications in the identification of microorganisms and the support of scientific experiments. Furthermore, the workshop reviewed the methods of preparing culture media, the conditions required for sterilization and storage, and the importance of adhering to proper scientific principles to ensure the accuracy of laboratory results and the safety of research work. This workshop is part of a series of scientific and awareness-raising activities organized by the Department of Biology, aiming to enhance students’ practical skills and link theoretical knowledge with practical experiments, thereby contributing to the development of their scientific and laboratory competencies, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).
