College of Science Organizes an Awareness Campaign on World Soil Day

The College of Science at the University of Al-Mustaqbal organized an awareness campaign on the occasion of World Soil Day, under the supervision of the College Deanship and with the participation of Sustainability Ambassadors from faculty members and students, in cooperation with the Department of Forensic Evidence. The campaign aimed to raise awareness of the importance of soil conservation as a vital environmental resource that supports food security and environmental sustainability. The campaign was carried out by the staff of the Department of Forensic Evidence, with the participation of Sustainability Ambassadors: Asst. Lect. Riyam Thaer Ahmed, Asst. Lect. Huwaida Nazzal Hussein, and Waqar Jafat Jassim. Activities included the distribution of awareness brochures within the university reserve, highlighting the importance of protecting soil from pollution and degradation, as well as its essential role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to environmental protection and public health. The event witnessed positive interaction from students, who emphasized the significance of such initiatives in promoting environmental awareness and strengthening social responsibility. Organizers stated that this campaign is part of a series of awareness activities implemented by the College to prepare environmentally conscious students who embrace sustainability concepts, contributing to community service and supporting the university’s vision for sustainable development.
