In accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding the rationalization of water consumption within the university campus, and within the activities of Al-Mustaqbal Water Conservation Week, launched by Al-Mustaqbal University under the slogan:
“A drop of water is life… Do not waste it, even if you are at a flowing river,”
the College of Law organized a panel discussion entitled:
“Iraqi Legislation for Water Protection.”
The panel was delivered by Dr. Abdulrahman Abbas Adain, a lecturer at the College of Law, who addressed the importance of Iraqi legislation in protecting water resources as both a legal and societal responsibility. He emphasized the role of existing laws and regulations in organizing the use of water and preserving it within and beyond the university environment.
The lecturer also reviewed the Iraqi legal framework related to water protection, outlining the proposed legal mechanisms for activating these legislations to reduce water waste, promote a culture of sustainability among students and staff, and align with national policies and the Sustainable Development Goals.
At the conclusion of the panel, emphasis was placed on the importance of concerted efforts between university administrations and students to strengthen environmental awareness and to translate ministerial directives into practical actions that contribute to conserving natural resources and ensuring their sustainability for future generations.
