The Department of Biology organized a scientific workshop entitled “Controlling Agricultural Pests Using Eco-Friendly Methods,” presented by Asst. Lecturer Zainab Nadhim Aziz, as part of the scientific activities aimed at enhancing environmental and sustainable agricultural concepts among students. The workshop highlighted modern, environmentally friendly methods for controlling agricultural pests as safe alternatives to chemical pesticides, emphasizing their role in protecting human health and soil quality, reducing environmental pollution, and ensuring the sustainability of agricultural production. The workshop also addressed the importance of integrated pest management and its role in achieving ecological balance, protecting biodiversity, and supporting food security through responsible agricultural practices that consider both environmental and economic aspects. This workshop comes within the Department of Biology’s efforts to promote scientific and practical awareness among students and to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 2 (Zero Hunger) by supporting sustainable agriculture, Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and Goal 15 (Life on Land) through preserving ecosystems and biodiversity. Al-Mustaqbal University is the first university in Iraq.
