Two instructors from the Radiology Technology Department, Dr. Fadhil Sahib Al-Sultani and Mr. Amin Awad, presented a workshop aimed at equipping participants with the essential knowledge and skills needed to respond quickly and safely to injuries and emergencies that may occur suddenly in daily life, whether at home, in the workplace, or in public places. First aid is the first line of defense in saving lives and reducing the severity of injuries until specialized medical teams arrive.
The workshop covered the concept and importance of first aid, focusing on the principles of personal safety for both the first aider and the injured person, and how to conduct an initial assessment. It also explained the correct methods for dealing with the most common injuries, such as bleeding, wounds, fractures, burns, fainting, choking, and shock, in addition to providing a simplified explanation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
