Data modeling is the process of creating a visual representation or diagram that shows information collection systems and management systems within any organization, so that it determines the types of data, their attributes, the relationships between them and how they are used and organized within the system. Data models can be divided into three main levels: 1. Conceptual model: Shows the general structure of data without technical details, and focuses on business concepts and key entities. 2. Logical model: Defines the characteristics of the data and the relationships between them in more detail, but does not include the technical details of the database. 3. Physical Model: It expresses the final structure that will be applied in the database itself, including tables, keys and relationships. Without good modeling of data, information analysis becomes less effective, and perhaps unreliable. They ensure that data is organized, relationships between data elements are represented, errors are reduced when analyzed and data is utilized to make sound decisions.
