Under the patronage of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Radwan Salman, the College of Education organized a scientific symposium entitled "Extremist Ideology Among University Students." This symposium was part of the college's academic and awareness programs aimed at promoting intellectual awareness and instilling the values of moderation and national belonging within the university community.
The symposium opened with a speech by the Dean of the College of Education, who emphasized the seriousness of the phenomenon of extremist ideology and its negative repercussions on the individual and society. He stressed the vital role of educational institutions in building a balanced student personality and promoting a culture of dialogue and acceptance of others, thereby contributing to the intellectual fortification of students and preparing them to be active members in serving society.
The seminar's sessions were presented by Professor Dr. Abdul Jawad Abdul Hassan, Professor Dr. Abdul Salam Jawdat Al-Zubaidi, and Assistant Lecturer Shadan Salah. They addressed the concept of intellectual extremism in a rigorous and scholarly manner, highlighting its main causes and motivations, and its negative effects on both the individual and society. They also reviewed prevention and treatment mechanisms from an educational and guidance perspective.
The seminar was attended by a select group of professors from the Family Guidance Department of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein, along with heads of academic departments, faculty members, and students from the College of Education. This lent the event a distinctively scholarly and interactive character, enriching the discussion and fostering constructive dialogue.
The seminar aimed to raise awareness among university students about the dangers of intellectual extremism, develop their critical thinking skills, and instill the values of tolerance and moderation, while emphasizing the role of families and educational institutions in preventing intellectual deviations. At the conclusion of the symposium, the College of Education affirmed its commitment to continuing to organize scientific and educational seminars and events that contribute to building a conscious university generation capable of confronting intellectual challenges and participating positively in achieving intellectual security and societal stability.
