The Department of Medical Physics organized a scientific workshop entitled “The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Breast Cancer Detection,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Najwan Thaer Ali, as part of the department’s scientific activities aimed at keeping pace with modern developments in medical and technological fields.
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques in supporting the early diagnosis of breast cancer, through the analysis of medical images such as mammography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which contributes to improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing human error.
The workshop covered several key topics, including:
• The concept of artificial intelligence and its applications in medical physics.
• The role of intelligent algorithms in medical image analysis.
• The use of deep neural networks in the early detection of breast cancer.
• Future challenges and ethical dimensions of using artificial intelligence in the medical field.
The workshop witnessed notable interaction from faculty members and students, and was enriched by scientific discussions on the prospects of employing artificial intelligence to support medical decision-making and enhance the quality of healthcare.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Assistant Lecturer Najwan Thaer Ali emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between medical physics and artificial intelligence sciences, and the necessity of integrating these modern technologies into educational and research programs in order to keep pace with global scientific advancement.
