This article aims to clarify how environmental factors interact with human medicine from a medical physics perspective, and their impact on human health, disease diagnosis, and treatment.

The Relationship between the Environment and Human Medicine:
The environment plays a fundamental role in human health. The human body is exposed daily to a range of physical influences such as natural radiation, electromagnetic waves, and heat. These factors can be beneficial if used in a controlled manner in medicine, or harmful if exceeded permissible limits.

For example, ionizing radiation is used in medicine for tissue imaging (such as X-rays and CT scans), but it can also cause cellular damage if its doses are not controlled.

The Effects of Environmental Radiation on Human Medicine:
Radiation is one of the most widely studied environmental influences in medical physics.
Natural radiation: This comes from soil, air, water, and cosmic sources. This radiation is often low-level, but chronic exposure can cause a buildup of radioactive energy within the body that affects cells.

Electromagnetic Interference and Its Effects:
In our daily lives, we are surrounded by electromagnetic fields generated by cell phones, telecommunications towers, and medical devices.
Medical physics studies the effect of these waves on biological tissues. Although most are non-ionizing, prolonged exposure to high levels can lead to increased tissue temperature or disruption of neural activity. Therefore, international safety standards are applied to protect patients and staff in medical facilities.

The Effect of Thermal Factors and Noise:
Environmental heat and noise play an indirect role in public health.
Heat: High temperatures can affect the accuracy of sensitive medical devices such as MRIs.
Noise: It can affect the accuracy of physiological measurements in laboratories, in addition to its psychological and physical impact on patients and staff.

The Role of Medical Physics in Reducing Environmental Impact
Medical physicists apply advanced techniques and devices to monitor radiation doses and ensure patient safety. They also analyze radioactive contamination in hospitals and determine environmental safety levels.
By developing radiation protection standards and controlling electromagnetic waves, medical physics contributes to a more balanced and safer relationship between the environment and medicine.

Conclusion:
The intersection of the environment and human medicine in the field of medical physics is a vital topic that contributes to improving the quality of healthcare and protecting humans from environmental hazards.
All medical progress depends on a thorough understanding of the physical environment around us, harnessing it to serve humanity, not harm it.
