Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, President of Al-Mustaqabal University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muzafar Al-Zuhairi, the scientific and academic supervisor, and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mehdi Ebady Manaa , Head of the Intelligent Medical Systems Department and rapporteur of the session, Al-Mustaqabal University organized a specialized scientific workshop entitled:
“Building a Security-First Culture: A Social Engineering Awareness Workshop.”
The event was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in the main hall, with wide participation from deans, heads of scientific departments, and a large audience of students.
This workshop came as part of the university’s programs aimed at enhancing cybersecurity awareness among its staff and students, and at building an institutional culture founded on digital vigilance and information responsibility.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim, an international expert, Professor at Humber Polytechnic, and Vice-President of the Cybersecurity Department at C-SevenFifty Consulting and Training Company. He showcased his extensive experience of over a decade in networks, cybersecurity, IDS/IPS systems, and internet infrastructure.
The session addressed social engineering techniques used by attackers to breach systems through the human element, which is considered the weakest link in the security chain. Through real-world case studies and interactive exercises, participants learned to identify deceptive tactics based on false trust, urgency, and curiosity, as well as methods of reporting, responding, and practically resisting such attacks.
The workshop also highlighted ways to establish a robust security culture within academic environments, empowering faculty members, students, and administrative staff to act as the first line of defense against cyber threats.
The event witnessed distinguished attendance from university deans, department heads, and students from various colleges. Prof. Dr. Mahdi Abbadi Maan served as the rapporteur of the scientific session, emphasizing in his remarks the importance of such workshops in strengthening digital security skills within the academic community, keeping pace with the requirements of digital transformation, and enhancing the university’s readiness to face cybersecurity risks.
