in Support of Sustainable Development Goal 8
(Decent Work and Economic Growth)
Under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Mayada Waheed, Head of the Department of Building and Construction Engineering, an awareness campaign was conducted by faculty members Lect. Alaa Hussein Abdulameer, Lect. Haneen Fadhel, and Lect. Raghda Ali Nasser, targeting both faculty and students of the Department of Building and Construction.
The campaign aimed to share key insights and practical strategies for mastering effective time management, and included the following key components:
Goal Setting: Set clear and measurable goals. Use the SMART method (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound).
Time Planning: Apply planning techniques such as to-do lists and scheduling. Assign dedicated time for each task and stick to it.
Pomodoro Technique: Divide work into focused intervals (25 minutes of work followed by a 5-minute break) to boost concentration.
Prioritization: Utilize the Eisenhower Matrix to distinguish between urgent and important tasks, and focus on high-priority items.
Avoiding Distractions: Identify and eliminate sources of distraction during work. These may include mobile phones, social media, or noisy environments.
Task Time Allocation: Allocate sufficient time for major tasks instead of trying to complete them in short periods.
Learning to Say “No”: Do not hesitate to decline tasks or meetings that divert attention from your core goals.
Evaluation and Analysis: Regularly assess how your time is spent. Identify activities that consume time without adding value.
Scheduled Breaks: Take regular breaks to enhance focus and productivity.
Adaptability and Flexibility: Be flexible and ready to adjust your plans when priorities shift.
By applying these time management secrets, participants can significantly improve their ability to manage time efficiently and achieve their goals more effectively.
