As part of health awareness efforts and community education, the Sustainability Ambassadors in the Biochemistry Department organized an awareness campaign on the dangers of smoking. The campaign included the distribution of educational brochures highlighting the health risks of smoking and its negative effects on individuals and society.
This campaign aims to raise awareness among students and university members about the serious impacts of smoking, whether on the respiratory and cardiovascular systems or in terms of its environmental and social effects. It also seeks to encourage smokers to quit and adopt a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
This initiative aligns with the department’s commitment to supporting awareness activities that contribute to creating a healthy and sustainable university environment, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
• Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, by promoting health awareness and reducing the risks of smoking-related diseases.
• Goal 4: Quality Education, by spreading knowledge and raising awareness about healthy habits.
• Goal 13: Climate Action, by highlighting the environmental impact of smoking and its contribution to air pollution.
This campaign reaffirms the department’s dedication to promoting a culture of sustainability and fostering a healthier and more positive university environment.
