almustaqbal University recently participated in the third session of the Babylon Environmental Protection and Improvement Council, held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Babylon Environment Directorate. This participation was attended by the Deputy Governor for Planning Affairs, the Director of the Babylon Environment Department, and several representatives of relevant departments and institutions.
The university was represented at this session by Engineer Khaled Kazim Al-Salihi, Director of the University's Sustainable Development Division. almustaqbal University played an active role in discussing important environmental issues that directly impact the lives of citizens. The problem of random migration and the resulting diseases and epidemics due to the suspension of the model slaughterhouse due to administrative issues was addressed.
Discussions also focused on sustainability and the conservation of water resources, through the optimal use of water to mitigate the effects of climate change and the recycling of treated wastewater for irrigation. Other topics included medical waste, the spread of stray dogs, Babylon's green belts, the environmental platform, and the activation of the Stray Dog Control Committee.
Engineer Al-Salihi, based on the directives of almustaqbal University President, Professor Hassan Shaker Magdy, affirmed the university's readiness to participate effectively in addressing environmental challenges. This is achieved through conducting joint studies and research with relevant institutions to find innovative solutions to environmental problems. The university's sustainability ambassadors also expressed their willingness to implement volunteer campaigns off-campus to preserve the environment in Babil Governorate.
At the conclusion of the session, a set of recommendations were presented, requiring relevant authorities to complete the necessary procedures within specific timeframes, reflecting the seriousness of joint work towards a better environment.
