In line with the directives of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Prof. Dr. Hassan Shaker Majdi, to promote health awareness among students and the academic community, the Department of Forensic Evidence – College of Science organized an awareness campaign titled “Smoking and Its Harmful Effects on the Heart.”

The campaign was supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Sami Abdul Hussein Habbanah, Head of the Department of Forensic Evidence, with active participation from faculty members and students.

The event aimed to highlight the health hazards associated with smoking, particularly its harmful effects on the heart and blood vessels. It emphasized how smoking increases the risk of heart disease, stroke, and hypertension, while also addressing its social and economic consequences. The campaign included interactive educational lectures and the distribution of awareness leaflets encouraging individuals to quit smoking and adopt healthy lifestyles.

This initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being.

Goal 4: Quality Education through promoting health awareness.

Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration between colleges and health institutions.
