In an unprecedented academic achievement, the British Times Higher Education announced today, Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the results of the THE Impact Rankings 2025, which measures the commitment of global universities to the sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations. Al-Mustaqbal University topped this ranking among all Iraqi universities, both public and private, confirming its leadership in the field of sustainable education and its advancement in the national and international academic arena.
Globally, the university ranked in the (201-300) category among 2,526 universities representing 130 countries across different continents, in a fierce competition among the most prestigious educational institutions. Al-Mustaqbal University achieved outstanding performance in several UN goals, ranking first globally in Goal 7 related to affordable and clean energy, outperforming prestigious universities in Europe, America, and Asia, in an unprecedented achievement for Iraqi universities. The university's results in a number of other sustainable development goals were as follows:
Goal 1 (Eradicating poverty): First in Iraq and ranked within the (101-200) global category
Goal 3 (Good health and well-being): Second in Iraq and within the (101-200) global category
Goal 4 (Quality education): First in Iraq and within the (201-300) global category
Goal 6 (Clean water and sanitation): First in Iraq and ranked (60) globally
Goal 7 (Clean energy): First in Iraq and globally
Goal 13 (Climate action): First in Iraq and within the (201-300) global category
Goal 16 (Peace, justice, and strong institutions): First in Iraq and within the (101-200) global category
This remarkable progress reflects the fruit of a clear strategy adopted by the university to align its curricula, administrative systems, and community initiatives with international sustainability requirements. The university has harnessed its academic and administrative energies to create a learning and research environment that fosters creativity, supports innovation, and contributes to addressing contemporary environmental, social, and economic issues.
