The College of Education organized a scientific symposium on sustainable development for students in the Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences. The symposium aimed to achieve the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, which stipulates "quality education." The symposium was held on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. in the Humanities Building, Hall 309. The session was moderated by Ms. Liqa Abbas, the department's Student Activities Officer. She welcomed the distinguished lecturers, who contributed to building a generation armed with knowledge and science. She also welcomed the students in attendance, emphasizing the importance of the symposium's topic as one of the current issues, namely sustainable development. The scientific symposium addressed two main themes:
The first theme: "Environmental Awareness for a More Sustainable Future," presented by Professor Dr. Thanaa Bahaa El-Din Abdullah. She addressed the concept of environmental awareness, its elements, and its importance in achieving sustainable development, as well as strategies for enhancing environmental awareness.
The second theme: "Linguistic Acculturation" And its Impact on Sustainable Development (presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Saad Ali Jaafar Al-Marab from the University of Babylon). He addressed the concept of linguistic acculturation, its objectives, importance, and its impact on promoting sustainable development in cultural, social, economic, and environmental areas, citing some practical examples. In conclusion, the session moderator expressed her thanks and appreciation to the lecturers for the useful information they provided, drawing on their profound insights and rich experiences. She also thanked the distinguished attendees.
