Under the patronage and attendance of the President of Al-Mustaqbal University, Professor Hassan Shaker Magdy, the university held a grand celebration yesterday morning (October 8) on the occasion of Iraqi National Day, under the slogan (Strengthening National Identity and its Role in Sustainable Development), in an atmosphere filled with the spirit of pride and belonging, and with the wide participation of assistants, deans, lecturers, and a large gathering of students.
The event began with a student march through the campus. Participants raised Iraqi flags and slogans of sustainable development in a patriotic display that expressed the unity of the nation's people and the university's mission to build a loyal, patriotic generation that believes in knowledge and giving.
This was followed by a speech delivered by Professor Muzaffar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, on behalf of the University Presidency. He emphasized that celebrating National Day represents a renewal of the pledge of loyalty to the homeland and a remembrance of Iraq's glorious history on the day of its declaration of independence in 1932, as the first Arab state to achieve full recognition of its sovereignty.
Al-Zuhairi pointed out that national identity represents the foundational pillar for building the future of modern Iraq, and that sustainable development can only be achieved through the efforts of its loyal sons and creative minds. He called on students to actively participate in the university's scientific and community initiatives, particularly the AL_Mustaqbal Ambassadors Sustainability Camp, scheduled for October 17.
Al-Zuhairi also praised the distinguished scientific and academic achievements of Al-Mustaqbal University, emphasizing that true belonging to one's homeland is embodied in work, creativity, and community service, a concept the university embodies in its vision and mission, which are based on leadership and excellence.
At the conclusion of his speech, University President Professor Hassan Shaker Magdy received a letter of thanks and appreciation from His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in recognition of his fruitful efforts that have contributed to the university's achievement in achieving advanced positions in international rankings.
The University President also honored a number of university leaders and distinguished professors for their contributions to the university's achievements in the Times Higher Education Sustainable Development Rankings, including in the fields of energy, scientific research, quality, and academic accreditation. He also honored the winners of the Sustainability Award.
The celebration witnessed the distinguished participation of students from Safi al-Din al-Hilli Intermediate School and Kindergarten, embodying the university's openness to the community and affirming its mission as a community university that extends beyond the campus, seeking to instill values of belonging and instill concepts of sustainable development at all levels of education.
The event concluded in an atmosphere of pride and joy, as AL_Mustaqbal University renewed its pledge of loyalty to the nation and continued its journey of graduating knowledgeable and creative generations who carry the message of knowledge and development for a brighter and more sustainable Iraq.
