, the University of Al-Mustaqbal welcomed the field monitoring committee of the “Sustainable University” competition, organized by the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Environment. The competition aims to evaluate the environmental and institutional performance of participating Iraqi universities.
The reception was headed by the Assistant for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Abbas Al-Bawi, accompanied by Professor Dr. Muzafar Sadiq Al-Zuhairi, Director of Scientific and Academic Supervision, along with a number of directors of related scientific and administrative centers and units.
The meeting included a scientific presentation by Dr. Muzafar Al-Zuhairi, in which he provided a detailed explanation of the environmental and developmental initiatives launched by the university in recent years. These initiatives are based on sustainable scientific principles and institutional performance evaluation indicators. The presentation also highlighted the university’s notable progress in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for Sustainable Development 2025, which reflects the institution’s commitment to internationally recognized environmental and developmental standards.
The purpose of the visit was to conduct a field verification of the university’s implementation of the environmental and administrative projects listed in the competition’s evaluation form and to assess the real-world impact of these projects on campus. The tour included several sites that represent the university’s orientation toward adopting eco-friendly technologies, such as water and energy management systems, environmental educational gardens, and waste recycling initiatives.
The visiting committee included representatives from both ministries, headed by the Director of the Entrepreneurship Project Management Division at the Department of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education. The committee members expressed their appreciation for the institutional efforts made by the university and praised the high quality and integration of the projects with the competition’s requirements.
